A joint project of Taiwan and the United States, Constellation Observing System for Meteorology Ionosphere & Climate (COSMIC) is a constellation of six small satellites that study Earth’s atmosphere. Each satellite has three instruments; a GPS radio occultation receiver, a tiny ionospheric photometer, and a tri-band beacon. Following the success of COSMIC, COSMIC-2, a system of six new satellites, was launched in June 2019.
