Its air-data probe projecting from its nose like that of Pinocchio, NASA’s remotely operated Highly Maneuverable Aircraft Technology (HiMAT) research aircraft highlights the newly landscaped courtyard in front of NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center’s Integrated Support Facility. The subscale HiMAT research aircraft demonstrated advanced fighter technologies that have been used in the development of many modern high performance military aircraft during a four-year flight research program from 1979 through 1983.
