Project: Integrated Resilient Aircraft Controls (IRAC)
NASA Dryden’s F/A-18 #853, newly dubbed the Full-scale Advanced Systems Testbed (FAST) aircraft, began checkout flights of its Research Flight Control System (RFCS) for NASA’s IRAC project in 2010. The flights demonstrated the functionality of the RFCS. This research will benefit aviation safety by creating technology that could help damaged aircraft to fly and land safely.April 6, 2010
