NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has captured a galaxy in transition: the lenticular galaxy NGC 1266, located about 100 million light‑years away in the constellation Eridanus. Lenticular galaxies are considered an evolutionary bridge between spirals and ellipticals, but NGC 1266 is notable for more than its structure.
